decal vs. paint

HELLO ALL

I ordered decals for registration letters. When the supplier came to install
them they were wrong, size letters, hyphen, and thickness. I should have
known better( or I should have expected it) as I ordered them from a w_____
although not blond. I gave her all the specs out of 549 so they would be
right. Well I then ordered a paint mask from another company. Brian helped
me put them on and then I painted them along with the rudder and elevator
tips. Looks good. I'm glad that the decals didn't work as I think I got a
more permanent job with the paint. Would go this way if I had to do it over
again.
Just my thoughts, which my wife says aren't always right.

Good Luck
Murray

Are women in Canada really that stupid?

Is the word 'woman' forbidden here? Where is the FAQ for this group?

Sorry if I have offended anyone...

Giday Murray. I often wondered about such a thing as a paint mask. What type of company
will make one up for you, please? Could you describe it? Thanks.

decal vs. paint

Hi Dave

I'm sure you can go to any sign company. Look in the yellow pages under
signs, you will see all sorts of ads for decal signs. A paint mask has the
letters cut out. There's three pieces to the paint mask. Comes all stuck
together. You pel off the back which leaves a sticky surface which you adhere
to the airplane.Make sure this is centered before you get it stuck. Once
on,peel thje paper layer off and you are now left with the paint mask on.
Go around the edges of the letter with a rubber spatula making sure it is
firmly attached. Mask off the rest of the area for overspray and become
Michael Angelo, Perfect. Pel the paint mask off when the paint gets
tacky,about half an hour.

Good luck, worked great for me
