Rotax V300T HP?

This is true, but they are getting hundreds of thousands of miles out of
Subarus producing this kind of power with their engines. As already pointed
out, the new WRX is getting 300 HP out of a 2.5L. The Subaru WRX is one of
the only cars running the world ralley championship circuit that can run an
entire season without an engine rebuild. It will be very interesting to see
how the new Bombardier works out in the field.

In the R/C aircraft world it's not uncommon to get 2 HP from .5 cubic inch
engines... I've got one that has survived 7 different airplanes over the
course of as many years... still runs strong.

I'm not a techi or mechanic. I did read Ricard Finch's book. A 2.2 L.
Honda
can put out 800hp. A mercedis benz can also put out 800 hp. at 14000rpm.
This engine has a TBO of 5-10 hrs.Seems to me the more you want from an
engine over and above the original design parameters the quicker the
engine
gets used up.

Think about it

For a long time I've been very interested in the 3.3L Subaru engine, but
the
one hang up almost everyone has when I talk to them about this engine is
that 320 HP out of a 3.3L engine is just to much power to expect out of
an
engine that size. I find it interesting now to see Bombardier come out
with
their V300T engine that displaces 189 ci... or 3.096954L.

All the claims and reports are that they built this engine from the
ground
up with aviation in mind, and did extensive computer modeling to ensure
reliability. I wonder if as these engines start flying and building
hours
if they will successfully change peoples perceptions regarding how much
horse power you can wring out of a modern engine.
