Paul and Peg
Personally if you have the .020 originals I would (and did) upgrade to .032.
If
you have the .025 ones installed, I would leave them there. Believe .025 is
adequate and MAM went to .032 mostly because they were already stocking that
thickness as a Elite part. MAM might confirm this if you ask them. Also
believe
only the bottom wraps are upgraded. Just my opinion of course as I haven't
flown
mine yet.... There was a long thread on this about last Sept.
I also like Bobp's suggestion to upgrade the panel below the door sill
(immediately behind the cage) to .025 or .032.

are most of the
folks putting the larger engines, i.e., 0-320's & Subaru's doing the .032
corner wraps? Any other mods on the front?

Hi Paul:

Those Rebel flyers that are on floats or use unimproved strips are
recommending that you upgrade to the .032 front corner wraps. I have. The
archives at www.dcsol.com/lists/mr98/#end are a good source for background
info on additional front end mods.

Can you put the profile on the net?

I talked to Curt at Oshkosh about the locking mechanism for their swing up
door. He said tha he would try to get something on paper. I guess I'll
have to ask him how he's doing.

I'd have to concur with Bob P's comments on Met-All. We used to polish
DC-3's, 6's and Convairs in the Marines with the stuff. Lasted the longest
of
any of the stuff we tried. That's why everything on our Rebel will be
painted.

Lonnie: The "gear fix" is where I'm at right now...along with doing
something
along the line of Curt & Bill's mod for the swing-up doors. Are most of
the
folks putting the larger engines, i.e., 0-320's & Subaru's doing the .032
corner wraps? Any other mods on the front?

Brian: We got a 'profile' to work on the paint scheme from Murphy. I can
send
it.

Those folks on floats...are the Murphy recommended positions of the fuel
sumps
adequate? Not being a float pilot yet is there a better position on the
fuselage for the Transponder antenna then under the cabin belly...outside
of a
top mounted antenna?

There are not any zips of the archives available at this time. If this is
something folks would like I can look into setting this up. The archives
are currently all in HTML format, so if I made ZIP files available, I'd
probably just zip up the whole directory, then you could view it with your
browser.
