Aileron Mod

Warren, your balance weight is NOT going to double. You are static balancing
the aileron into level flight or there abouts. In reality if it was
perfectly balanced in the original form, when you add more spade in front of
the hinge line you are adding weight there and the lead balance weight
required in theory would actually be lighter!! I think MAM did make it
heavier to possibly help the stick forces some more, but I don't remember.
I do remember though that the weight, of the weights as supplied by MAM, was
stated many months back by I believe Randy and Don Boardman.
Cheers,
Wayne O'Shea

*-------------------------------------------------------------------------*Question for anyone that's had experience with the aileron spad mod.
Just got the qoutes for aileron mod parts. Seem a bit pricey. I had
planned on making a simple mold and melting down one of my scuba weights
for balance.
My original was 1250g so this one should be 2500g. Can someone weight
and confirm.
Is it worth buying the skin and doublers? (136 Cdn) or make from scrape?
If anything I would think buying new spade ribs and using raw stock
would be the way to go.
spade skin AIL-408 2@ 58.000 116.00
mass balance weight AIL-410 2@26.800 53.60
wingtip rib doubler plate W-730 2@ 10.000 20.00
Rivet, 1/8" x 3/16" Avex RV-1410 100@ 0.050 5.00
Rivet, 3/16" x 1/4" Avex RV-1613 12 @.110 1.32
