issue is really simple; in order to make the 300 H.P. to haul that pile

of

aluminum off of the water, the governor is set to bump at 2850. If the
engine doesn't turn rated RPM at WOT, then it aint producing rated
horsepower. You can tell a 185 breaking water from MILES away.

Probably not P.C. to say it, but I kinda like that sound.

Was attending a nice fly in at a wonderful little grass strip about 10 miles
from my home when an old friend flew in in the UTVA that he was trying to
broker off. During his obligatory fly by, women, children and small animals
were crying in pain and seeking shelter.

C'mon, Wayne. A man who motors about in Corvettes and, I believe I recall a
GTX, has got to appreciate a 185 on the roll. There's something about
testosterone that makes us enjoy powerful noisy things. (especially if they
come with breasts, huh?) Most boring air race I ever saw was the L-39's at
Reno. Kinda like a vacuum cleaner derby...

The UTVA, however, may be over the edge.

I'm having exhausts built for them this year, if I find the time to get them
into "annual" and over to a friends shop that builds race car exhausts.
Thinking of a quick connect system to attach to the existing 6 straight
pipes to hush her down, but to allow quick reversion to NOISE if I have
someone piss me off that I want to deafen for a couple years!

I used to have a set of dump pipes on my first car, '69 Fury II family boat
with a vinyl top. I tried desperately to blow up the 318 that it came with
(removed water and oil to no avail!) and my dad finally said just pull it
out and put in what you want. We threw a wrecking yard 426 Hemi and a Lenco
5 speed in it and I used to street race light to light on Carling Avenue in
Ottawa for a few hundred $'s a hop. Had double mufflers to keep it quiet, as
I pulled up to the lights, and when the opposite light went yellow I'd pull
the cable and uncork the monster. Some just sat and stared with their jaw
hanging open when the left foot came up and the right foot went down!!!

Oh yah, we're supposed to talk airplanes here! Sorry!!

when you wanted the "sound." Some off the guys had caps with pipe thread
others had a plate that was secured with 2 bolts that were easy to remove.

Who needs mufflers when you are young and want the "sound"?
