Hey Brad,
I suspect that you're gonna get 200 opinions, but here's one: Harbor
Freight #00167-3JFA. It's the smaller of the two that they sell. I bought
both this one and the larger version, thinking that I might need the extra
heft for the 3/16" rivets. The small one sets the 3/16 Avex (aluminum) so
well, I haven't used the big one yet. Been using it almost a year and it
hasn't failed a single time. I oil it about once a week whether it needs it
or not. It doesn't leak air at all, either.

An engineer buddy expressed horror that I'd buy such a cheap tool,
considering that I was going to use it so much in the coming years. I told
him that I'd pay the couple of hundred dollars, for a good 'name brand'
tool, if this one didn't hold up. Having performed so well, if it falls
apart tomorrow, I'm gonna buy another one. BTW, it comes with the different
sized nose pieces.

I have looked around at pneumatic rivet pullers and there are about 200.
Any
suggestions? Do I need multiple heads? Thanks once again.

Hi Brad !

Why not just get the Basic Tool Kit from Murphy ??? It has
a puller, and several other useful tools .... you can always
buy the extra clecoes, etc. later, when you need them.

You could also get the Chemical Kit - Polyfiber Epoxy Primer,
Tube Seal, and Metal-Sol .....

Totally agree with Bill on Harbor freight. The small gun is all you need and
works good. Don't buy the larger gun because the barrel is so large you can't
get it into some tight spots. It comes with all you need and if there's a
problem you can go to the Harbor Freight site and down load the manual if you
misplace yours. I've got three guns the one from Murphy that's still pulling
rivets after building one Rebel and 80% of a second Rebel and both the Harbor
Freight guns. Watch the sale flyers and you can get the Harbor Fight gun for
as little as 40 US$.

My Harbor Freight puller is over ten years old, has pulled over 10,000
rivets and is still going strong.

which pneumatic riviter

I'm with Bill on a "cheap" one and no need to go name brand. I am still
using the cheap "made in China" blue one that I got with my "tool kit" from
MAM in 1993. 10 years of "light" usage and it's still on the original nose
piece gripper pieces (and I've never cleaned them!!!)

BTW, as you have probably already concluded, my idea of light usage is 40 to
60 hrs per week!!! I've pulled over 250,000 rivets with mine and it just
keeps on ticking. Just pulled another 1500 today closing up my "stretched"
floats.

I've pulled so many rivets with it that I was getting worried it would die
and finally bought a spare to have here in case it packs it in during a fuel
tank or similar. It's guaranteed that it will never fail now, as I have a
back up.

Maybe Gordon Mohr still has some left. He bought a volume deal from Princess
Auto and I bought three from him, kept two for myself and sold one to the
local Texas Parasol builders.

Cheers,
Wayne
