Thanks a lot for sending all your snow SOUTH of the border. April 7th
and we get 6" in Chicago!!

What do you guys up North do when you have icing conditions up there?
Stay on the ground? ? ?

Has anyone looked into adding Deice equiptment on to a rebel or Moose??
Not to be used for known ice, but
to get you out of it and back on the ground in a safe manor. Here in the
Great Lakes area, icing becomes a problem.
Sometimes they don't forcast it and as you know S--- Happens.

Just a question for the list.

SNOW! ! ! ! ! !

Steve, You can have the other 18 inches I still have on the field from
Thur/Friday/Saturdays storm if you want to make it 25!, mind you I quit
complaining about it Sunday morning when I decided what the hell and flew for
4 hours on skis. Something different for April, as we're usually sitting
around waiting for the mud to dry this time of year (and we still have
snowmobiles running across Georgian Bay even!!)! I guess the "mud" season will
be May this year (which will make some customers pretty late getting to the
lake on floats!!)

As for flying in icing conditions, by all means try to avoid it, but if caught
keep the speed real high, the nose down and land really hard to knock it
off!! :o) Just kidding of course!

I had a flight instructor that took me up in a C172 to do spirals with a coat
of ice still on the wings, as it couldn't be removed with the broom and time
was money for him. I didn't know any better at the time and when I asked he
reassured me that it was "just fine". All it took was a good 3 G pull out at
the bottom of the spiral to crack all the ice of the wings, but from the sound
I thought the whole wing departed ship! Unfortunately the Murphy wing is much
stronger and more rigidly built than any Cessna wings so this isn't an option
either.

Don't really know a serious answer other than if it's building up and it isn't
smooth pick a landing area really quick and try to land with the traffic on
the expressway, not against it. IF it's smooth you should be able to find an
airport in close proximity and if not keep her balls to the wall until you
find one.

Cheers,
Wayne

Wayne:
I think you can keep the other 18" up there but on second thought, that might
be better than the ICE we have now.
Everything is covered. It's been raining with the temp. right at freezing.
But by Friday it should be about 60 Deg. F. here.
If you would like we can try and arange some of that to be sent North.

Thanks for your reply.

Have been having a problem trying to send mail to the board. I think Mike
made some changes and is pulling his hair out now.
The only way I can post anything is to log in on the BBS, when you can get to
it, and than post it.

Sent a coupl of e-mails to Mike about the problem. Maybe it's just ME and my
pewtor. Will see what happens.
