By now many of you may have already noticed that you can't get to the server.
I made a few changes that forced other changes... don't you love that.
Anyway, I have to update some records up the food chain, and that will
probably take 12 - 24 hours to take affect. Just try back every once in a
while... it will be working again soon.

If you're just dieing to log into the system, you can get there in the mean

Just wanted to post a quick note regarding a change I made to my mail server
in case anybody has difficulty sending messages to the lists. If you are
having problems, please send me a message at mikedavis@acsalaska.net

Due to the explosion of SPAM I have been receiving, up to about 100 messages
in a 24 hour period now, I have enabled a feature on my server to use "Relay
Black List (RBL)" servers. An RBL server maintains a list of mail servers
that allow open relay... in other words, a server that allows anybody to send
mail through them. This is the common method for sending SPAM. If a mail
server is listed on the RBL server, then my mail server simply refuses
connection requests from it, and will not accept mail from it.

If you find that you are now unable to post messages to the lists, it is
possible that you mail server has been black listed. I can provide server
logs to you to present to your provider to help get this resolved.

If this happens, is there an alternative method of corresponding with the
list, ie; through the message function of the Maddog!BBS
(www.dcsol.com:81/default.htm)?

That is certainly one way... everyone is always welcome to setup their own
account on the system as well, creating an address of username@dcsol.com. The
newsgroup server is another option... configure your e-mail clients news
reader to news.dcsol.com, and read and post messages with that. Another is to
get one of the meriad free e-mail accounts out there, like yahoo.com, or
hotmail.com... it should be very rare that anybody has a problem.
