I'm working on another fellows Rebel. And the vertical tail post spar attach
fix where you drill out the RV1410 1/8" and replace with RV 1612 3/16" to
attach the reinforcement doubler. What's you're thoughts on using 1/8" solid
driven rivets instead of drilling out to 3/16" and using the RV1612? Nothing
guaranteed in stone just you're thought on me doing it this way. I'm sure the
solid driven would be stronger. And more spar material left intact.

Vertical tail post spar attach ?
Vertical tail post spar attach ?
I have also posed a similar question elswhere on a SR project to Brian at
MAM and he suggested that the bigger diameter of the rivet was of importance
in any fix.

Vertical tail post spar attach ?
Seeing I'm the guy that created this SB/doubler/rivet upgrade from "field"
experience, I would say that 1/8 solid AD rivets would probably be
sufficient. Three RV1613's would be still be stronger than three 1/8 solids,
but not any considerable amount. Considering that there are 9 x RV1613's
right above this area on the stab attach brackets drilling 3 holes up to
3/16 at the SB area is not going to compromise the spar strength in any way.
Cheers,
Wayne
