March 18, 2003 - The FAA has closed or restricted several key chunks of U.S.
airspace, including the area within the NYC Mode C veil and airspace around
Disney Land and Disney World. Of these restrictions, the latter is most
likely to impact seaplane pilots. The airspace within 3 nm of Disney World
and from the surface to 3,000 feet is now restricted. Seaplane destinations
in the vicinity include Sand Lake, the Butler Chain, Kissimmee, and several
private seaplane bases, including Sand Lake, John's Lake, Cole, Kissimmee,
and Lake Conway. For more information, see AOPA's web site.
