SR Roof Mounted Flaps
Posted: Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:49 pm
I just uploaded 12 pictures of the roof mounted flap system that Rob and I
are using on our Super Rebels. Note the Ray Allen (previously MAC) servo
attached to the slide block which is mounted backwards, separating the flaps
and aileron droop functions. The only part of the system not shown in these
pictures is the last tube/bellcrank assembly that will be mounted below the
one that you see in the pictures at the rear, near the top, near the
fuselage side. The missing tube will be aligned with the inboard flap
attachment bracket pivot point and can't be located until the wing is on. A
very short rod with rod end bearings will go from the bellcrank on the upper
tube to the bellcrank on the lower tube, inside the fuselage, near the side
wall. On the other end of the lower tube will be an attachment similar to
the original floor mounted design to connect to the inboard flap rib. Hard
to explain, but hopefully you'll get the idea. I am putting together some
crude drawings with dimensions that I will scan in and upload for anyone
interested in this.
