Rebel FUS-27 Angle Bracket Attach

Terry,

I drilled out the bottom row of 3/16ths rivets (wasn't difficult). I clamped
the angle bracket into position and marked the location of the rivet holes on
the back side of the bracket by inserting a 3/16ths inch reamer that had a
point on it, through the corresponding rivet hole in the front gusset, through
the upright until the point of the reamer contacted the back side of the angle
bracket. (You could use a drill bit to do same.) I hand rotated the reamer
backward (so as not to enlarge the hole any) just enough to mark the drill
point on the back side of the bracket. I did this one hole at a time, checking
the fit each time. It worked out well for me.

Hope this has been of some help.

Rebel FUS-27 Angle Bracket Attach

Hi Rebelers:

Rebel 662
(Fuselage Assembly, Chapter 12.0, page 70, 29/06/98)

I searched the archives, but came up empty on this one.

Does anyone recall how the lower, forward angle bracket at the FUS-27 Root
Rib channel to cage was installed?

The plans say to attach the angle bracket using the existing hole (read:
singular) in the upper/aft gusset (I am thinking that they mean the gusset
tooling hole because that is the only hole remaining in that area) . The
only problem is that, it is a 1/4 inch hole! Is this the correct location
for angle bracket attachment? I am a little leery of drilling out the row
of 3 each, 3/16 rivets in the gusset I had previously installed although it
looks the best. I am confused on this.

Thanks in advance for positive comments and suggestions.

Thanks for the information Roger! Sometimes you look way too hard for an answer
and it turns up right in front of your nose. Thanks for the pic. It looks like
you are making some real progress on the project! Nice work too . . .
