Wayne's comments on surface tension are quite valid. There is a better and
much safer solution than using fuel however. Mix water with 10%
meth-hydrate
and a 2% standard clear dish soap. Standard food colouring, preferably red
or
blue will make any leaks standout against the metal, rivets or seams. The
surface tension of the solution is significantly less than gasoline and
will
show up any leaks quickly and safely. Capillary action will cause the
solution to migrate through any voids alerting you to them. Plain water
will
remove all residue after completing your test and you can wet vac up any
remainder safely. As for gap sealing and bridging check Murphy's technical
web site on prosealing particularly fibreglass emulsions.
