LS1 Engine Reference reading

Post by Rickhm at home » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:37 pm

I recently found a great book on the corvette, L83-LS1. Title is Corvette
Fuel Injection Engine Management: How to understand, service and modify.
ISBN 0-8376-0861-9. Written by Charles O Probst. It includes descriptions
of the entire system, electrical schematic's for the car and all sensors,
All standard GM diagnostic codes, etc. Looks to be a great help in
defining the electrical connections. It has almost convinced me that I
don't want to use the standard GM ECM. There is lots of connection to the
auto application like control of the transmission (manual or automatic),
cruse control, and a separate processor that controls the throttle called
the Throttle Accuator Control (TAC). Among other things if the TAC sees
something it doesn't like it will shut down the engine! Their model is
different than in flying. If there is a significant engine issue save the
engine! The Haltech and TEC modules allow you to control these things!
