Hard to Find AN bolts

Anybody know where I can find AN9A-31 bolts, AN365-918A stop nuts, and
AN970-9 washers (or AN960-9 washers if the big ones aren't available)? I
need two bolts, two nuts, and a few washers. The first place I talked to
after web surfing said they would be hard to find and would cost
$300-$400!!!! I didn't do a very good job of drilling out my forward wing
attach holes to 1/2" so I want to ream them out to 9/16".

Hard to Find AN bolts

Mike, I have to meet this guy to offload my 9/16 (and 5/8, 3/4 etc) bolt
supply!! I have about 2000 AN9-25's. 2000 x $300us = $600,000US!!(or about a
million canadian!! Boy do I wish!!). Of course my next size up is AN9-41 so
I can't help you with them at 9/16. I do have lots of AN365-918 nuts in both
metal and fiber, as well as AN364 fiber shear nuts in 9/16. I also have
AN364/365 nuts in up to -20's (1 1/4") if you are ever building a 747 as a
homebuilt!)

However if you reamed up to 5/8" like the 3500 uses, I do have some
AN10-32's. I am presuming that you are not doing any of the 3500 mods at the
fuselage attach either, that you can use this length of bolt. With the mods
it requires a longer AN10 bolt. I also have a few AN960-9 washers, no big
ones as well as AN960-1016's

Thanks Wayne. Going out to 5/8 probably wouldn't be any harder than 9/16 so
if I can't find 9/16 bolts, I'll come to you for the 5/8. I probably don't
need the larger diameter washers (AN970) so at least I know you can help me
out with the washers and nuts. As usual, you're the Rebel and SR builders
treasure.

Try B&B Aircraft Supplies. They are in Gardner, KS. (913) 884-5930. You
might also give Wentworth Salvage a call. There in Atlanta somewhere.

Mike,
I would ream to 5/8 dia and make an aluminum flanged bushing to fit. The
bushing would then have your 1/2 dia hole for the original bolts.
Good luck, you'll need it.

I haven't had much luck finding 9/16 bolts but it sounds like Wayne might
have some 5/8 bolts that will work.

Hey Wayne, do any of the 5/8 bolts you told me about have a grip length
close to 2-3/32" to 2-1/4"? I have done the 3500 forward wing attach mod on
the fuselage but I did not move the doubler from inside the square tube to
the forward face of the square tube as needed to address the fit issue with
a full 3500 mod. This is because I did not modify my already built wings so
my wing attach fittings will fit inside the tube with the doublers just
fine. I also don't have the small, square doubler inside the little
U-shaped fitting at the back of the wing attach. That's why I have a
different bolt length requirement.

Mike, I have some AN10-27's and AN10-32's They have grip lengths of just shy
of 2 1/8" and just over 2 1/2" respectively. I don't have any AN365 nuts
in -10 but I do have AN310-10 castle nuts seeing these bolts are drilled, if
either bolt length will work for you. All the NAS bolts I have are longer
than the AN10-32's

Mike..

Were you able to find the AN9 bolts you were looking for? I'm in the same
situation you were..

What did the bolts end up costing?

Anybody know where I can find AN9A-31 bolts, AN365-918A stop nuts, and
AN970-9 washers (or AN960-9 washers if the big ones aren't available)? I
need two bolts, two nuts, and a few washers. The first place I talked to
after web surfing said they would be hard to find and would cost
$300-$400!!!! I didn't do a very good job of drilling out my forward wing
attach holes to 1/2" so I want to ream them out to 9/16".

Hard to Find AN bolts

As usual you were just looking too hard!! Just like when I can't find the
wrench that I knew I had a few minutes before and look around for 1/2 an
hour trying to find it. It's usually in my back pocket!!

Thanks Wayne. But I won't need them now. I mentioned my need in passing
to
my building buddy here in Fairbanks while we were installing the wings on
his Moose and wouldn't you know it, he had the two bolts I need right
there.

Mike, I have some AN10-27's and AN10-32's They have grip lengths of just
shy
of 2 1/8" and just over 2 1/2" respectively. I don't have any AN365 nuts
in -10 but I do have AN310-10 castle nuts seeing these bolts are drilled,
if
either bolt length will work for you. All the NAS bolts I have are longer
than the AN10-32's

I haven't had much luck finding 9/16 bolts but it sounds like Wayne
might
have some 5/8 bolts that will work.

Hey Wayne, do any of the 5/8 bolts you told me about have a grip length
close to 2-3/32" to 2-1/4"? I have done the 3500 forward wing attach
mod
on
the fuselage but I did not move the doubler from inside the square tube
to
the forward face of the square tube as needed to address the fit issue
with
a full 3500 mod. This is because I did not modify my already built
wings
so
my wing attach fittings will fit inside the tube with the doublers just
fine. I also don't have the small, square doubler inside the little
U-shaped fitting at the back of the wing attach. That's why I have a
different bolt length requirement.
