I finally found a set of used long AN bolts for my new
propeller mounting for a good price. The only problem
is that they are 3/8 inch longer than I need. I could
use a bunch of washers, or a second crush plate instead
of just one. I have one from the old Warp Drive
installation which I could use as well. Anyone see a
problem with that?

Wellllllllllllllllll, acceptable practice is no more than 2 washers under a
head and three total for an assembly with a nut on it. However that said,
Sensenich had us put 4 under each of Howard's bolt heads as they sent him a
2 1/4" spacer and matching bolts the first round. Then only sent the correct
2" spacer and a bag of extra washers to replace it and allow us to use the
same bolts. Anymore than four washers and I'd question it. Instead of normal
1/16" washers you could use 3/8" thick spacers, that would only count as a
single washer in reality. I'll have a look through my 5 shelves of
spacers/bushings and see if there are any steel or aluminum spacers that
have a nice tight 3/8" ID and a fairly thick wall on them, in the morning.

Thanks Wayne. Where I am now, is that I did get my
spacer machined down to 1 1/2 inches which means that I
am now looking for AN6H-60A bolts. However, I am
finding that these are hard to find as well, but in the
meantime I did pick up these AN6H-63A bolts which are a
little too long now. I am just looking for a temporary
solution right now with these bolts, as I will continue
to look for the right ones. I am just anxious to test
my new prop and spinner to see how it compares to my
old Warp Drive. So, I could try it with 2 crush plates
and a few washers to make up the difference. Do you see
any problem with 2 crush plates?

NO!

It's done regularily with UHS's large spinners with a squash plate against
the WD prop, then the fiberglass spinner bulkhead and another squash plate
on top to sandwich the bulkhead in place.

Thanks Wayne. Was up flying again today with the old
prop and took down some numbers at a given weight and
temperature, so am pretty well ready to try the new
prop now. The good weather just continues out here, so
not sure if I'll do it tomorrow or not.

Send some of your weather this way! I'm tired of winter already thanks to a
month of lake effect already. Unfortunately we are the first piece of land
that the lake effect clouds hit as a north wind blows across the open waters
of Georgian Bay (Lake Huron), and the 190 foot elevation rise from lake
level to our property seems to be enough to catch the clouds and not let it
go anywhere until the cloud is empty. Just like a big humidifier, as the
lake is still 5*C so it quickly forms snow clouds and then they hit the -10
to -20 airmass over the shoreline and dump everything.

Well, today it was +8 C, calm and sunny. Last weekend,
it was even warmer, at 13 C and again calm and sunny.
The skiers aren't happy though, as even Whistler has no
snow yet this year. At the local mountains on the North
Shore of Vancouver, it was 20 degrees C (about 68 F for
the US folks) last weekend on top of Grouse Mountain
where they would normally be skiing this time of year!
We sometimes get these inversions in the winter here
where it is warmer up top than below. Makes for great
flying, though. I shouldn't brag too much, though, as
our solid 3 weeks of rain at a time will be coming
soon, I'm sure.
