window rivets

I used aluminum rivets with aluminum mandrels to fasten in my acrylic
windows which worked fine with oversize holes in the acrylic. There are
even softer 1100 alloy aluminum rivets available but they are somewhat
more expensive and probably not necessary.

However for the countersunk brass window catch I tried using steel
mandrel rivets and of course that is the only place that cracked.
Fortunately it is a piece cracked out of the edge which is not visible.
Probably would have been OK with lexan but acrylic is less forgiving of
course.

If anyone expects to use lexan, you may want to unroll it and store it
flat as I could not flatten mine out even by rolling it up backwards for
quite some time.
