Walter Klatt

Echo Bay

Post by Walter Klatt » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:24 pm

I was out of town for a few days, so just now, too, saw the pics and story
on the MAM website.

Yup, I have to say it was one of those life time experiences that you
wouldn't want to miss. The scenery, weather, company, fishing and Wings Over
Canada filming were absolutely fabulous. I have no idea what will end up on
the show, but I believe they will start to air this year's series starting
in December, so am looking forward to seeing it. It sure was a lot of fun,
though.

I was the only Rebel size plane, so felt a little small amongst the flock of
Super Rebels, Moose, Beavers, and 180/185's, especially on the last day when
we had to get out in a hurry because of bad weather moving in. It was a 2
1/4 hour flight back to Vancouver for me at 100 mph gps ground speed (slight
head wind with my 105 indicated cruise speed) and had to make it back before
dark. The other guys all could cruise at 120 -130 mph, so weren't in a great
hurry to leave. Anyway, I made it back in good time, and even had time to
dip it in some fresh water to rinse off the salt water before heading into
my home airport in Langley.

I was also quite impressed with the two Super Rebels that were along. They
were only 250/260 hp versions, and were really loaded with people and gear,
but still got off the water pretty quick. The Moose, though, with Robin, was
in a different league altogether, and I don't think there is any plane that
size that can even come close to the performance of that beast off the
water.

Walter

When I get the place cleaned up and a few docks built (next year) Bob we'll
have to tease these Western guys with a "Temagami Bay" version of how to go
fly-in fishing...without the salt!!

Lake Trout/Smallmouth Bass/Walleye and Northern Pike.... in crystal clear
water that has you pulling your motor up.... thinking you're going to hit
bottom when you're in 10 feet of water!!

Cheers,
Wayne

I will be there along with a few others from the Vancouver area. Bruce G is
coming from Spokane and planning to meet up with me in Langley tomorrow
afternoon, Thursday. When are you planning to be here, Al?

Anybody got any pull with the big guy up there and the weather?

Hi Walter,
I was planning to be at Fort Langley, 10 to 11 am Friday. I have not heard
the plan for meeting up, when were you leaving? The weather does not look
great, I'm not asking the big guy, saving that request for IMC with the
back door closed.
