In a previous post I said I was going to put my reinforcements inside the
stab. Started making a pattern last night - then figured out why MAM put
thiers on the outside. The raised embossing on the outside ribs faces inward.
The gussets will not sit flush against the rib if placed on the inside.
Probably most of you had already figured that out - sometimes (most of the
time :) ) it takes me a little longer!

I have not looked close at mine yet but I believe float planes will need a
ventral fin somewhere - the beaver usually has them between the elevator and
stab (nut plates w/countersunk screws hold a 1/8 aluminum plate) that extend
above and below. I hate to put a reinforcement on the outside where
clearance may be needed for the ventral. Another option is to put a ventral
under the tailcone but it hinders you more in a crosswind. I'll have to look
close at this one

I seem to remember someone asking about that, and the answer was
that the (Super?) Rebel has enough rudder/vert stab. in the design for
float operations. We'll know soon enough if that's really true on the
Super Rebel and the new floats.

That is what I was told also but I don't want to pedal it along through the
mountains. Look at all the other floatplanes around and they were
afterthoughts - I plan on at least making an attachment point for it. It
will also depend on what floats you choose - I won't be using MAM's.
Aluminum floats are cheaper now than 15 years ago because of Aerocet.
