I am building the Rebel Elite in the taildragger version. I haven't asked
Murphy yet, but I wonder if this area is stronger on the Elite, especially
since it can also be built in the with the tailwheel on the front, so to
speak (aka tricycle gear). Reacting the loads from the nosegear might have
beefed up the structure in this area.
Hmmmm. I wonder if one could add some of the local fuselage structural
changes, required for the Elite nosegear, on the Rebel or the Elite
tailwheel version to reinforce this area. If that's the case, Murphy may
have many of the structural pieces to beef up this area already designed and
in stock. At one time I considered adding the nosewheel structure, except
for the large fittings, as a resale feature or in case I was scared to fly a
taildragger. I discarded that idea because of the weight penalty and I have
since got my tailwheel rating and have never had as much fun flying as
flying a taildragger. One of the reasons I elected to build the Elite was
to get the many enhancements to the fuselage and empennage, along with the
higher gross weight, larger door opening, stronger wing, etc. etc....

And yes I have asked the factory about an extra row of rivets or a
attentionsize or type of rivet on the entire door post considering all the
meanthat it is getting lately but have not heard back as of yet. I do not
looking atthis as criticism, I just assume from Alister's note that they are

that I am at I am not sure I want to hear what some of the fixes will be.
Probably alot of work and it will not be pretty.
