Have sent a photo of "Rollie's Folly" to dcsol.com/murphy.rebel,
so you can all see what it looks like. It's not the greatest photo,
but he says he'll send me a better one when he stops flying for a
while - just having too much fun right now !!

It's in the ftp section - go to ftp://ftp.dcsol.com,
and choose the Rebel section, point to the file, and choose
File download.

Rolland Acorn's Rebel has an O-320, spring gear, metal prop, full
instruments, incl. Xponder & Mode-C, and lights. Paint is rich red,
with metallic gold trim. Empty weight about 970 lb,
cruise 120 mph @ 2,400 rpm, climb "spectacular", after 200 ft
takeoff roll !! More details to follow - when the smiling slows
a bit !!

Congratulations Rollie !!! She's a beauty !!

I would like to see the picture of Roland's Rebel but I do not know how to
do
this. Could you please give me more specific instructions on this? I know
I'm doing something wrong. Thanks.

Any way we could encourage Roland to come to the next meeting? I would go
up
there as an alternate way of seeing his airplane. I could not locate his
airport in the CFS. I am sure the field name that was mentioned is just a
local nickname.

To get to the photo .... until Mike gets time to move it to the
'completions' page :

Type into your browser's address line:

ftp://dcsol.com

this takes you to the ftp page, then click on
murphy-rebel
then on
rebel
and finally, on
folly1.jpg

It is only 78 k, and will download quickly. Depending on your
browser, it will display immediately, or you will have to type in the
file name that you saved it under, in OPEN, to see it...

There is a possibility Rollie will fly down for the next meeting,
depending on weather, etc....
His field is not in the CFS AFAIK - it is a private grass strip
east of Orleans (a south-east suburb of Ottawa).
You could give him a call if you are going that way - he's on
the Builders List. (There <might> be some others who'd like to drive
down to see it too .... me, me ....., & me .... !!!)

was hoping to fly down but would not want to land one of BFC's 172s on a
grass
strip this time of the year. Boy, do I miss the Super Cub!

Sure hope we can talk Roland into coming to the next builder's meeting. I
believe I got the date as Jan. 8, but that is not a Sunday. I must have it
wrong. Please advise.

Sorry, Brian - I've GOT to stop buying those <discount> calendars !!
I had it as the 9th on the last agenda - WRONG !!!

The next Rebel Builders Meeting is:
The Second Sunday, as usual - January 10 th !!!

'As Far As I Know' - another (of many) email acronyms ...

I don't think Brampton would allow one of their aircraft into
'bearbrook
international' - it is a little hilly, with trees, the odd ditch, etc. -
in other words, a Rebel's native habitat !! :-)
If you were really feeling brave, I suppose you <could> fly into
Ottawa Int'l .... I did it once, long before TRSA's or ARSA's, Mode C, and
whatever other alphabet soup they have guarding the airport nowadays !!
Actually, flying into Rockcliffe might be easier - was there a
couple
of years ago. Good opportunity to visit the National Aviation Museum, too !
(Can I stow away in the baggage area ?? :-) )
