Insurance for kit while transporting

Mike, from what I have seen shipping anywhere is outrageous.

When I picked up my tail kit I didn't give transportation insurance much
thought. But I don't want to pick up the QB fuselage and wings without out.
Avemco covers it during construction but not during transportation. Has
anyone out there found a good deal or looked into insurance while
transporting parts or kits?
A friend was telling me I could probably get some one way insurance for
around $2,000! Uhaul has $25,000 contents coverage for $70, but has
limitation on what it covers. One agent thought "maybe" it would be covered
since it is really not an airplane yet??

Any thoughts.

Thanks
Scott

Scott,

When I shipped my used ultralight from Illinois to Alaska, I got "shipping"
insurance through www.cargocover.com. Being an ultralight, I only insured
it for $4000, and it ran me $75... I'm not sure what 10x that much coverage
would run... the premium was actually higher because it came over water from
Washington, to Alaska... over ground alone would have been cheaper. Also,
don't bother filling out the form on their web site... call them directly.
The form is geared towards commercial carriers, it's easier to get a one
time shipment coverage as an individual if you just call them.

Mike

Insurance for kit while transporting

I have done shipping for many SR builders. I use many cross country carriers in my personal business and started putting together shipping a couple years ago. This has all been coordinated with Colleen at Murphy. I can deliver anywhere in the US and Canada. All my carriers are fully insured for values far exceeding the contents we haul. We are fully bonded carriers as well, familiar with import/export documents. Kit shipping costs vary depending on how many we have in the truck and where they are going. We have hauled from LA, NV, ME, VT, Ontario, Manitoba, PA, NY, etc. Costs range 1200 to 2500 per QB depending on the above details. I would be willing to help anyone needing a QB delivered. Email if you need help.
