Extra cargo door

As everyone already knows, I am mounting the flap handle on the roof. This
frees up the area in the tailcone where the flap cable would normally go. I
am keeping my rudder and elevator cables low until the back of the second
tailcone bay behind the cargo area. There will be extra pulleys in the
system due to angle changes. This will allow me to continue with a floor to
that point, esentially extending the cargo area by two bays. I was thinking
about adding a second "cargo door" in the side of the tailcone in the second
bay behind the cargo door. My plan would be to mount my battery and ELT in
this bay, and the door would provide easy access. I would prepare channels
around the door similar to the regular cargo door, and then build a door in
the same manner as the cargo door. Any concerns about the stressed skin
design being compromised too much? Should I put the second door on the
other side from where the cargo door is? I think there is room for the
battery to not be over any cables, but is it a total no-no to have a battery
above cables if the battery is properly contained in a battery box? What's
the preference for battery boxes, by-the-way? Plastic? Metal? My Cherokee
had a metal box. My boat has a plastic one. The battery that far back will
do two things for me: Help offset the weight of my Chevy, and provide a
place for legs when sleeping in the back.

P.S. Speaking of extra pulleys, just FYI, I installed 2-inch pulleys on the
left and right side of the elevator bellcrank for the rudder cables. This
is the perfect spot for them since this is where the cabin connects to the
tailcone and the floor angle changes here. Installation was quick and easy.
Use the shear web on one side and a bracket on the other side to hold the
pulley.
