Moose flying questions

Mike and Mike: Congratulations on the license Mike! My first flight
instructor job was out of Merrill and all the segments and departures of the
part 93 airspace can be funky even when you're based there.

Mike, would like to hear more about your flap handle as it progresses, have
any drawings?

I remember some talk of the control stick hitting the panel in some
installations. I think Chris Gill was able to flip a switch or maybe it was
cabin heat knobs he was hitting...anyway I was wonder about shorting the
stick a little? Sounds like with the new aileron mod the control forces are
light enough that it wouldn't hurt? Thoughts?

Do your recall what crankshaft RPM or Percent MAM was using for the 1st and
2nd cruise settings? The only time limited setting I can find in the manual
is the 360hp takeoff of 5 minutes.

That tail wheel sounds interesting too. Either of you get some pictures?

Chris's left stick hits the Master switch if you move it forward and to the
left. The right stick hits the cabin heat knob if it's pulled out and you
move the stick forward and to the right. Right now Chris has a checklist
item to ensure the cabin heat is off for takeoffs and landings while he
figures out what he wants to do.

I'll try to put some drawings together of the flap handle installation on
the roof. Probably have to be hand drawn and scanned in since I don't have
a good drawing program.

I can't remember for sure but I thought I might have seen about 1800 for one
cruise setting and about 1350 for the other setting. I can't even remember
whether Cruise I was the higher setting or Cruise II.

I know Mike took pictures with his digital camera but I don't know if he got
any of the tailwheel.

Forgot to answer one of your questions. The stick forces were definitely
light enough that I would have no qualms about shortening it. Probably
don't want it as short as a Long-EZ though. You don't want to have to fly
with your head between your knees.

drawing. No hurry as we are still waiting for our fuselage..maybe in two

I did take several pictures, but don't recall if I got the tail wheel for
sure... will have to take a look. I do plan to upload all of them to the
site I was just busy doing things today that I should have been doing
Monday!

I don't recall the higher cruise setting, but the lower power setting was 25
in MP and 2050 shaft/prop RPM... I thought that Robin called it prop RPM but
thinking about it now it was probably shaft RPM, I think the prop only runs
around 1950 at full throttle with the reduction.
