wing wiring conduit

Hi Jason,

I think my partner and I took a bit of a different route.
The access to our QB wing forward of the spar was very limited.
We where not excited about drilling a hole in rib # 1. even though I know
the newer QB wings have an aprox 1" red flexible conduit similar to scat
tubing running in the "D" tube forward of the spar and exiting through
rib #1.

I could see know practical way of tying off a light weight flexible conduit
in the leading edge "D" tube as we had no access to most of its length.
Ridged PVC could have been run in the "D" with minimal attachment but the
PVC etc. we where able to find was just to heavy in our opinion.

The solution that worked for us.

We used an automotive wire loom. A VERY light weight loom that one can find
in most auto supplies. It is easily found in short lengths at "Wheels" and
the like. We finally sourced a 50" roll (box) at our local NAPA auto supply.
We used the 3/8" diameter. It is a light weight flexible black plastic,
corrugated, and split down its length. We ran two lengths of the loom from
the wing tip to the bay where the strut fitting is located. The loom fit
very nicely in the "L" of the bottom skins stringers. (The bottom skin aft
of the spar). The split down the length allows for a small amount of overlap
when installing. We installed a length in each of the two stringers. After
the loom was in position we ran two light beads of silicone at the top and
bottom of the "L" stringer to insure the loom was "locked" in. It worked
like a charm. We ran string in each.

Result: we have two "conduits" each capable of holding 3 maybe 4 wires from
the strut to the wing tip with no holes drilled in the structure. (Brian @
MAM was not excited about our suggestion that we drill into the Solid Ribs
behind the spar to run some larger dia loom)

The loom comes in various diameters, we will use 1/2" to run down the strut.

Hope this helps

Jason,

Make that a 50 ft. roll of the wire loom at NAPA.
Which was perfect for 4 runs from tip to the strut bay.
