Hi Guys,

Quick question:

We are about to install the wing strut fittings that attach to the main
spar of the 3500 wing. Do we concern ourselves with potential corrosion and
coat the three humungis bolts with something or put them in dry?

I like to coat all internal attach bolts with Epoxy primer for two reasons.
It seals out any moisture infiltration and it also takes up any clearances
you may have, to stop any "working" if the drilled/reamed holes are a little
over clearance for the bolt. External attach bolts (like the lift strut
bolts) get a good coat of grease to keep the moisture and corrosion at bay
and you also want to smear grease on the mating attach fittings (wing to
fuselage, strut to wing, strut to fuselage etc) so they slide together and
don't gall (as they will if left dry being alum on alum). Enough grease will
also keep the water out, from between the fittings, and keep it from
corroding.

Cheers,

Hi Don,
I used 2 part primer on the bolts and brushed some paint on the bolt heads
and nuts.
