Float Sealant is 3M 5200

Post by Don Boardman » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:00 pm

Hi Guys,

The 3M SEALANT IS NOT 3500, THAT'S A MOOSE!

THE REAL SEALANT GOES BY 3M 5200

SORRY FOR THE MISINFORMATION
My Zenair amphibs come with 3M 3500 Marine sealant. (I think that is the number
I will check and correct if wrong). I checked with Jay Frey of EDO to see what
they recommended and was told that they used either the 3M 3500 or a Bostick
product (number not recalled)
The 3M 3500 was easy to use and resulted in water tight floats for the six
years I flew them.
