Cargo tie down points

Post by Ralph Baker » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:59 pm

We are installing our baggage and fuselage floor and found some excellent
options to keep cargo in place during climb, turbulence or sudden
decelleration. Cargo Systems in Austin Texas is at cargosystems.com. They
have either a continuous rail or a circular plate about 1 3/4" in diameter
which fastens to the floor or side. Removable ring fittings snap into the
floor mounts. We elected to use the separate, round attachments which are
domed and about 3/8" high. Depending on the load, rings can be installed
where needed and then a cargo net attached to the rings or lines only to
secure things. The fittings can be purchased separately with round floor
fittings at US$5.95 each and 1" rings US$6.95 each. I did not price the
continuous track. The round fittings/1"ring are rated at 4000 pounds
vertical but of course that depends on the strength of attachment to the
airframe.
