SR-ST322

Well I've got that #!$* rudder all pulled apart to install the newer .063
EL-307's!

While looking through the box of parts I found 2 x ST-322's. These look a
lot like the ST-305's shown in my Stab assembly manual dated 29/06/98. Would
by chance these ST-322's be newer upgrades for the stab (to replace the
305's) or do they go somewhere else? Does anyone know the answer to take the
mystery out of it for me?

Thanks,
Wayne G. O'Shea

Wayne,

Looked today and a manual we received early September '01 has no reference
to ST-322's that I could find. This section is dated 29/06/98 (same as
yours). We have done the 3500 upgrade on the Stab. I do not recall if we
used such a part, it's been 7 months. I do not see a reference to it in the
upgrade instructions. Sorry can't be of more help.

Thanks Don! Maybe they are old parts that are no longer used! They were in
the same box as all the spare Rudder parts and rudder "fix" parts, not in
the 3500 upgrade box. Will have to track Rob down (need to pick up my
M-462RF from his garage anyway). Maybe he recalls what they were for.

Wayne, and all,

Sorry for not responding sooner, but out of commission last week.

We never had part number ST322, had me worried there till Don spoke up...

Thanks P & M! Maybe it's an Elite stab part!? I looked at them again today
and they are only .020 material, so most likely some old part that isn't
used anymore.

Is the guy you got the Sasquatch from building an Elite also?

Out parts list calls out the ST-322 as a Front Centre Doubler, it goes in the
centre part of the Stabilizer back to back to the spar (open end facing
forward). It and the Rear Centre Doubler are the reinforcements for the
Stabilizer mounting brackets.

Is it possible MAM issued these parts with the SR and changed them for something
heavier like they did for the rudder horn area fix (both Elite & SR)? Perhaps
the previous owner made a mistake and planned to replace the parts and didn't or
maybe MAM just shipped too many parts....? Maybe you have the prototype
Elsquatch?

Hope this helps clear up the confusion!

No he wasn't building an Elite! When I looked at the parts again today and
noted that they were only .020, I figured they were probably Elite parts
that they had tried to use on the SR, as Rob had the tail feathers VERY
early in production. The Elite did come before the SR, as many that were
waiting for an SR at the time can attest too!

Another couple of parts, for "spares", to hit the peg board hooks on the
wall!!!! Sooner or later there will be an Elite through this shop! That's a
given!!

Thanks,
