SR What's in a Name?

Post by Don Boardman » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:38 pm

Hi All,

Super Rebel, Baby Beaver, Moose ...

Randy my partner and I have been working on a name for our SR3500 for over a
year now. Super Rebel just doesn't do it for us. No offense Daryl and
others. Baby Beaver well is it really a baby?

This ship with the M-14 on amphib floats needs just the right name.
Many have been taken,
The Beaver ... The otter ... The Duck ... The Goose ... The Widgeon

Well to date it looks like we will be flying " The Muskie "

(The Huskie Muskie, an amphib aquatic brut!)

SR What's in a Name?

Post by Walter Klatt » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:38 pm

Don't know about Moose. I think they should just call it the Murphy Beaver.
That would give some recognition to the late designer of the original
Beaver, Dick Hiscocks, who also had a hand in the Rebel designs. Then they
should rename the Maverick to the Muskrat and call that new little JDM
thing, the Murphy Mosquito... ;>)

Or stay with the original string of names (Rebel, Maverick, Renegade) and
try something like Outlaw, Bandit, Bandito, Scamp, Rascal, Rogue, Scalawag
(or Scallywag), or Rapscallion. I like Outlaw myself. Murphy Outlaw, oh
yeah!

SR What's in a Name?

Post by Bob Patterson » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:38 pm

Hi Don !

I have to say, I like Muskie better than Moose - the consensus
at the Rebel Builders meeting was that 'Moose' just didn't quite
make it ..... maybe that's just because it's such a radical
departure from the previous naming pattern. I guess there's just
not enough more synonyms for 'Rebel' !! ;-)

SR What's in a Name?

Post by Drew and Jan » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:47 pm

G'day Don Everyone I've talked to around here thats familiar with the
super rebel is unimpressed with moose. I don't know why but I've been
giving this way too much thought and here's my ideas for what they're
worth. I think that the name should do something to celebrate murphy's
western roots and the first name I came up with while waiting in line at
starbucks was murphy rebel Venti. I'm a tim hortons kind of guy so I really
don't know what venti means other than it's the biggest they've got. It's
an OK name but I thought I could do better and here it is the SR is
supposed to be in the same flavor as the beaver and the otter, both cute
little furry brown creatures. So how about Murphy Marmot? It's cute, it's
furry and brown, it has western flavor, heck it even rhymes. Oh and the
vancouver island marmots are an endangered species so it's even kind of
green. So there you have my proposal you can do with it what you wish and
I'm off to solve the rest of the worlds problems :) :)
