Tail wheel "rod" mount - Rebel

Mike/ALL, had a look at the SR tailwheel rod spring's 3 piece bracket/eye
assembly today. I'm sure it could be used but would change the whole
mounting design requirements in the back of the Rebel (and like Keith says,
would end up being an Elite!). Would suggest anyone wanting to do this
(usage of a rod spring instead of leaf) to just manufacture a new piece as
discussed previously!

Thanks Mike,

I'll have a look at the fin posts tail wheel "rod" bracket, on the SR that
I
have in the shop, and see if it would be adaptable to the Rebel!

Perhaps the tailwheel mount used on the Super Rebel could be used on the
Rebel. At least the nicely machined brackets and fitting with the round
hole for the tube. Save you having to machine your own.

I am deciding on features for a Rebel kit before prices go up. The
mission
is
Intermediate bush (wheels) eventually floats; thinking 8.5-6 main
tires.
In
the Aircraft Spruce catalog, Scott tailwheels model 3200 and 3400 are
offered.
The catalog states that the 3400 is more heavy duty ?designed for use
with
tube spring mounting?.

Questions:
1)
Is tube spring mounting possible on a Rebel? How?
2)
Pros cons of tube spring vs leaf spring?
3)
Pros cons of model 3200 vs 3400?
4)
Tips on matching tailwheel to mains?
5)
Would tailwheel selection affect main gear selection ( bungee, coil,
spring)?

Tail wheel "rod" mount - Rebel

Haven't really been following this thread but wouldn't using a rod for a
tailspring transfer its torque up to the forward mounting point instead
of into the tailpost? I would have thought that is not something you'd
want to do on a Rebel. Or can it be clamped tight enough at the
tailspring to solve that?

Anyway if it affects what you are trying to achieve, my tests on the
steel tailspring indicated that even a two leaf spring is somewhat
stiffer in torsion than the original fibreglass spring.
