Rebel kit upgrades when ordering from MAM

Rob, you won't get the material for the FUS-31 doubler included in the kit,
but the SB I created is just a piece of .032 and 3 x 3/16 rivets which
should be. The FUS-31 doubler can be done with a piece of .032 sheet
material also, or the easier way is to get MAM (Murphy Aircraft Mfg) to sell
you another FUS-31 to do the job with and this will leave you enough scrap
.032 to do a lot of other stuff with.

Don't know if Colleen will delete the wing tips and tail wheel from a kit or
not since the kits overall price really lowers the individual value of each
item. All you can do is ask her NICELY and if not the tail wheel can be sold
to someone with a Fisher Celebrity Bi-plane, or similar, as it works good on
one of those! List price on the wing tips is up to approx. $163Cdn each now,
so even if she took that price out for a pair it would cover your extra
material I am talking about here.

Also when ordering your kit ask for 3 x ST28 (front spar for horiz stab)
extra. This will give you the material to build the door sill areas properly
at .032 instead of with the ST-31 .020 channel. IF you won't have easy
access to raw sheet I would also suggest having MAM sell you a piece of .032
sheet about 2' x 4' to upgrade your outer Fus-25's and another piece of .040
about the same size to do your Fus-26's so you have them when the time
comes.

Rebel kit upgrades when ordering from MAM

ROB AND ALL, THIS SHOULD READ BUY AN EXTRA FUS-30 TAIL WRAP, NOT A FUS-31
THE FUS-31 IS THE PIE SHAPED PLATE THAT THE SERVICE BULLETIN ADDRESSES!
SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION!!! (where are all you guys that usually keep me in
line??)

THE "ONTARIO" DOUBLER IS ON THE FUS-30 NOT THE FUS-31

Pictures are available in the Rebel "Fuselage" section of the dscol files.

Rebel kit upgrades when ordering from MAM

Posted: Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:22 pm

Hi Rob !

There's no problem deleting the wing and tail tips from the
kit, or the tailwheel - I have sent in several orders for clients
that way. You don't get a great reduction in cost, as the kit represents
a 'package deal', but it gives you some money back to buy the Fife tips
and Scott tailwheel. You should order an extra FUS-30 at the same
time, as well as some extra ST-28 (about 4 pieces) to replace the
ST-31 in the door frames. You can use the leftover ST-31 under the
floor in the baggage area, and under the seats.

I recall sending in at least a couple of orders with NO gear -
they were going straight onto floats !
