Beta Prop for seaplanes

A beta prop sounds great. What material are the MTV-9 blades made of. What
is the cost of the beta prop vs. the non-beta? I have been told that
composite blades on large engines do not stand up very well on seaplanes.
Does anyone have any first hand knowledge?
