Wayne recommends the following Barnstormers Classified Ad to you (click on
link):

$17,000 US for an O-540 sounds like a heck of a deal!! We were looking at
about $40,000 Cdn for one out of a certified engine shop here in Canada,
overhauled for experimental usage. This one's just over half of that
considering we were looking at $40G's when the dollar was at a $1.50, not
a $1.60, to a US $1

Well, I got mine for $12.5K with float fittings, trike gear, tools, etc.
Even a set of chcks! But it really depends on how well the work has been
done. Fortunately on mine, the previous builder hadn't got too far, because
I had to scrap the elvator and do a partial rebuild on the stab. Then, some
of the skins were slightly corroded due to being stored for years in a damp
atmosphere. The moisture gets in to the bubbles in the plastic protective
coating, which then becomes worse than useless. Another caveat - some of
the earlier kits were less than complete. MAM have been pretty good about
this and have supplied most of the missing items except the bolts. I have
no idea how they came up wit the bolt selection. It bears only passing
reseblance to what you need. Looks like somebody dipped their hand in the
parts bin and figured "that's about right". Maybe it's not just the early
kits?

Sorry to disappoint you - they were chocks!

Which reminds me of a type in the flight manual for a French airplane we had
at the flying club over in Scotland. The nosewheel was equipped with a
"chock absorber". Real handy for those occasions when you try to taxi with
the chocks still in place.
