Synthetic Oil

I read with some interest a couple of months ago about the problems involving MOBIL 1 synthetic in the Rotax engines, caused by the the gearboxes tearing up the oil. Or visa versa.
Because I am Mobil dealer in Southern Calif., I have access to some of Mobil's technical people. They recommend their MX4T MOBIL 1 Fully Synthetic for 4-stroke motorcycles and other engines which share the oil both for engine lubrication and gearbox lube. They also "hinted" that synthetic oil may not be the best for air-cooled engines because it is less effective at wicking away heat.
