Updates to archive web site

Post by mike.davis » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:17 pm

I'm sure many of you have already been to the archives web site and seen the
changes I've made. To those of you who haven't yet, and to explain some of
the changes whether you've seen them or not... a brief explaination.

The navigation has been simplified... links to the primary pages remain across
the top of the page at all times. All the features are still there, but a few
new ones have been added, primarily in the message interface.

When you look at the archives now, if there is a red + sign to the right of
the message count that means there are new messages since you last looked. Of
course if you are logging in using the generic rebel/builder account, this
wont do you any good.

Underneath each conference is the moderator for that conference, clicking on
the name will open a message window addressed directly to the moderator. Of
course for all the Rebel conferences, that is me. Using this message will
post any questions to the list, but it will also direct the message to my
personal mailbox.

While viewing messages the HTML handling has been improved. This means if a
message is posted to the list in HTML format, the archives no longer display
all the mumbo jumbo... it's actually displayed as it was intended to be.
There is now a link at the top of each message to switch the view between HTML
and text.

I have added a frequently asked questions page to the site, that addresses...
frequently asked questions of all things. It gives step by step instructions
for uploading files for example.

Last thing I can think of right now is the hyperlink to the archives that's
placed at the top of each message... there should be one at the beginning of
this message... will log you directly into the system's main page using the
generic rebel/builder account.

I guess that's about it. If anyone runs into any problems, please let me know.

Mike
