Hi folks,
I would appreciate any help with riging my Rebel. I have fitted the
split flaps & aileron system. Any advice on travel at the control
surface would be great. I know there have been variuos disscussion on
these prefered settings over time, but the latest information and
experience of you all out there would be a great help.
Thanks
Graeme, 647R

Hi Graeme !

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but the best thing you could do
is remove the split flaps ...... With that arrangement, you'll have
half the flaps and half the ailerons ! At least, that is the result
that most folks have reported, and almost everybody switched back to
flapperons, especially for float flying.

I've flown a Rebel with the split setup, and found it lacking
in aileron for strong crosswinds, and definitely short of flap action.
Remember, the flaps shouldn't go down any further than they would have
as flapperons, as you still only have the same supports to carry the
load.

If you do want to try it - follow the manual. The angles of
deflection shown for the flapperons should still apply, as you have the
same flap hanger brackets.

Sorry Graeme, I know it took you a lot of extra effort to
install that setup ....... but I hope I've spared you some later
grief. (The shorter standard flap handle will also spare your
noggin some fearful bruises later. Don't forget to make it up
with a 'dogleg', for easier pulling, and to get it right out of
the way in cruise - see sketch in photos section.)
