BOB P.
I HAVEN'T FLOWN 13BN FOR A MONTH BUT I THOUGHT OF YOU THIS MORNING AS I MADE
MY CUSTOMARY 70 MPH APPROACH AND THEN TOUCHED DOWN, LOOKING LIKE I KNEW WHAT
I WAS DOING. I SOMETIMES TAKE FOR GRANTED HOW MUCH YOUR ADVICE HELPED ME
WHEN I WAS FIRST LEARNING TO LAND 13BN. I LATER HAVE SMILED WHEN YOU HAVE
REPEATED THE SAME ADVICE AND I CAN TELL THAT THE RECIPIENT HAS A LONG LIST OF
REASONS WHY 70 MPH WON'T WORK.

IT WORKS FOR ME.

Thanks for the kind words, Bill ! Glad to have helped.

You're right ! I recently spent some time introducing another
new Rebel pilot to the joys of landing - he didn't like the idea of
those high, fast approaches either, but agreed to try them.....

It seems to be working for him, too !! ;-)

How's that work for a short runway with obstacles at both ends?

70 MPH APPROACHES

Hi Jim !

It works just great !!! Just adjust your aiming point back
a bit, and you can almost come straight down the sides of the trees,
raise the nose, and all the speed bleeds off quickly, for a good
short landing. You'd use full flaps, of course....

If you REALLY wanted to make it steep, you could throw her
over into a steep sideslip too ...
