Howdy Mike, We used an 11 inch RV replacement strut (40 pound) from our
local RV, camper & trailer dealer. They have many lengths and weights. Ours
cost $14.99 each. Good luck and as Curt says keep at it, it's worth it. Man

You might want to check the Princess Automotive Catalog, they list several gas
cylinders that might be adaptable.
