This past Saturday, July 28th, 2001, our Super
Rebel N4965 took its maiden fight out of
Anchorage, AK. After an hour of turns, slow
flight and stalls the only squawk was a binding
flap handle that was remedied by some minor
filing on the flap handle support.

I know everyone who has built and flown a Murphy
aircraft says this but now it's my turn to say
it, "Keep popping those late night rivets, it's
worth the effort."

I've posted a photo in the Super Rebel section of
this web thing taken from the chase plane.

It's hard to explain the feeling of that first flight to someone still
building isn't it !

Congratulations Chris! did you have Bob Edison do
the first flight for you? I talked to him about
a week and a half ago in Palmer and he said that
you had asked him to fly it.

Alright Chris! Man am I envious. Summer in Fairbanks means I haven't
gotten anything done on mine in ages. Now I have a new-found motivation.
Guess you've got a fly-off period to deal with before I can expect a visit
to Fairbanks in your new plane, eh?

Mike,

Might not get to Fairbanks tomorrow but hope to
head up towards Talketna. I am working to get
some high CHT temperatures down today. We are
bumping up against 500F on a couple of
cylinders. I have opened up the cowl air exit a
little and will see if this helps. We will come
visit as soon as I get the 25 hours flown off.
