It could be, although lining the section with FibreFax would be lighter
and easier. You can also glue (with the special Silica adhesive) FibreFax
to the front of an aluminum firewall. This has been proven to meet Canadian
standards, and is lighter & easier....

firewall.

The piece mentioned above also separates the engine compartment from the

cabin

though.
