Has anyone made their own tail pull handles? Do you have any diagrams
or pictures??

Any info would be appreciated. I already went to the sites mentioned by
other builders and wanted to know if someone had gone "homebuilt"...

Peter, I have a "pro" mamufactured one that works nice on my Scott 3200, and
will take a shot or two of it when I get some time tomorrow and send it to
you personally.

Tail pull handle pics for me too? Maybe it'd be easier to just upload them
to the website with the number of responses you are getting. Thanks!

I'm re-reading Peter's e-mail and I think the tail pull handles he is
talking about are handles right on the tail cone for moving the plane around
when turning it around by hand, etc.. I took the email at first to be a tail
wheel puller for hooking onto your tailwheel and pulling backwards into the
hanger etc. I will take some shots of my tail wheel puller shortly and
upload to the site tonight.

Peter please clarify if my second assumption is correct, that you meant
handles right on the tail!

I have uploaded 3 pictures of my tail wheel puller to the List site under
Rebel - Miscellaneous. This puller will work on any tailwheel with an axle
that the tubes can slip over the nuts, or it also works on the Murphy
tailwheel by slipping a bar, or screwdriver (I use an old huge phillips
screw driver that's good for nothing else), through the hollow axle and the
pullers holder tubes. It also works on Cessna nose wheels and many other
aircraft thanks to its fairly large holder tubes that are big enough to go
around the Scott 3200 axle nuts.

Very easy to make from some scrap 4130 tube, mild tube or what ever you have
around the shop!

tail handle

Hi Peter

I was happy with a handle on one side so I slid a 1" round tube inside a 1.25"
square tube and riveted the square tube into the rear fuselage at a right angle
to the fuselage side. This allowed riveting into the square tube near the
corners where the round tube wouldn't hit the rivets. I was able to rivet one
side of one end of the square tube directly to a bulkhead and used another 3
suitable brackets elsewhere. It also allowed a pin to slide in and out in the
corner for locking the handle in (with a 1/8 turn). The galling of aluminum
against aluminum was so bad that I had to make up a delrin insert at both ends
though. Lots of possibilities if you have the time. Mine added 1.6# weight.

Have you seen Jack Weibe's (?) handhold? Just a spring loaded door about 1" x 4"
that you can slide your fingers into. It would be lighter and probably easier
and the handle becomes useless on floats anyway.
