G'day.
I have a problem with the window catches.
My kit was supplied with both types of catches, one being the same style as fitted on the doors, and the other being a lever type that fits into the top of the window frame and is operated by a lever with a knob.
Now here is the problem. I have the headliner kit, and if I fit the lever type, the headliner completely covers the lever and it could not be reached to be operated.
Has anyone any suggestions as to how I could fit the lever type?
Regards
Ian Donaldson

Re Rebel doors
Re Rebel doors
Hi Ian !
Actually, you can have a nice setup without that extra lever.
Several builders here have mounted the slider type upside-down from
the manual. That is - do not mount the slider on the window, where
it can poke you in the ear. Instead, mount it up on the wing root,
and have the slider pin come down into an aluminum strip on top of
the window. You just extend the pin that goes through the slider
so it becomes a handle on the inside that you pull up to open the
window. It can be accessed from outside by making a Delrin button
(a 1" dia. rod) that goes up through the wing root fairing to push
on the pin, and the lock can be mounted on the fairing so it turns
into a slot in the rod. Hard to explain - can try to get photos,
but it will be after Oshkosh ...

The standard door latch mount on the Elite comes in from the top. Murphy

Oops, sorry Ian. I read Bob's reply before I saw your message. Check the
photo I referred to see how factory recessed their upper latch in the

Re Rebel doors
G'day Chuck
Thanks for the reply. I did check the photo' that you referred to and it
was quite helpful in me understanding the whole set up.
Do you know whether the factory supplys that nice recessed moulding that the
latch fits into? I really don't want to try and make something like this if
one was available.

Re Rebel doors
G'day Bob
Thanks for your most detailed response to my questions.
You have a good idea in respect of the mounting of the catch. Very
inventive!
I would appreciate some photos of the catch set up, if at all possible.
Oshkosh! Must try to get over there one day. Unfortunately work gets in the
way of fun.
