Hi Bob
I agree with you. I had this crazy thought last year based upon reading the
NOTAM etc. that if you were flying in with your homebuilt & displayed your
sign etc. that you would be parked in a somewhat more favourable location so
that people could see your airplane. That was certainly not the case as you
know. We were camped in row 112 I recall way past rows & rows of tired
looking 172's - no offense intended, but I thought Oshkosh was supposed to
honour the homebuilding crowd a little because we sure did what heck of a
pile of work to knit all those pieces together & make them fly all the same
time.
I guess I am still naive.

Hi Drew !
If it's anything like the last 3 years, <homebuilders who want
to camp with their aircraft> will be treated like 3rd class nuisances,
and herded 'way down past the south end of the runway, with 5 showers
for 1,200 people, no sinks or mirrors, and little transportation !! :-(
(Silly me - I thought this was a show for homebuilders, who want to
camp !! It seems it's become more of a 'Rip off the tourists and pay the
Warbirds' kind of show ... but maybe I'm just grumpy from trying
to shave in the reflection of an old window with no sink, after
a cold, dirty shower - for the 3rd or 4th year in a row !)
The campground has been modernized, with new showers and camp
stores, but NOTHING has been done for those who like to camp under
their wings.
There has been NO CHANCE of having a Rebel Row - or even a
Ramble Row - you park WHERE they tell you, OR ELSE !!
And they wonder why attendance is dropping !! Many folks only
stayed down there for 2 days last year - and vowed NOT to return !!
We're still debating how late we can go and still make it worthwhile....
and now, no Murphy Party ! Maybe we'll just save it for Sun 'n Fun
- now THAT'S a homebuilders fly-in !

Will there be a rebel row at Osh. for campers this year and do I need to
make a special sign for my window to get directed to the right spot.
