Rebel Questionsand Cessna wing put-down

Post by Peter Cowan/Lexi Cameron » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:03 pm

Yes, I always use full flapperon for takeoff and landing.
That's what it was designed for ! This is NOT a Cessna, it's a
real airplane ! The flapperons alter the shape of the whole airfoil,
to provide more lift - unlike the barn doors on a Cessna that are
designed for drag.
Bob, perhaps you have never felt the lift you get from those terrible Cessna
flaps when you pull on a couple of notches when on the step: they are
fantastic. Did you mean to say "the whole wing" because Cessna flaps
certainly change the airfoil shape?

See, the problem with making biased negative comments is that it gives one
pause when listening to all other comments you make that might be more
accurate.

And then there is Everet Mackela (might be wrong spelling) who put Cessna
wings on a super cub and believes they have made a great improvement
especially because of the flaps.
Peter.
