Float/Ski attach points

I hope to place my SR on floats and skis eventually and wonder if the list can provide advice as to hard point attachments that might be easier to install now, while I am building the fuselage. Murphy says that they don't use a "pork chop" attachment where the main gear goes. (This looks like someone just chopped off standard landing gear legs leaving a pork chop shaped hard point to attach the floats.) They use something else which requires some minor modification and can be retrofitted later. Why not use a "pork chop" attachment?
What about ski attachments? I was looking at some Wipaire skis on a Husky and there appears to be attachment points at the firewall, bottom of the lift strut, and somewhere farther back on the fuselage, along with the expected main attachment at the wheel axle. Is this a standard setup? It would be nice to prepare the hardpoints now. Anyone have any advice as to what material to use for the hardpoints, size, placement, etc.?
