Update on Ultralight Rebel Crash

Just thought you guys would all like to know about the Ultralight Rebel crash in Queensland a few weeks back. Remember I told you that I'd heard that the pilot or passenger (not sure which) was supposed to have been the most wanted man in Queensland (to give you an idea of the size of Queensland, Texas would fit into it several times).

I've been really suspicious that no immediate probable causes or anything for that matter has been released by any official department (which is normally what happens).

Information just to hand is as follows:
1. Pilot or passenger (not sure which) is definitely (was definitely) a well known drug related criminal.
2. "White substance" found throughout fuel tanks and also found clogging fuel filters (this is
probably why the engine was running so bad on run-up and take off).
3. Suspicions point to the white substance possibly being heroin (or some other drug).
4. Information pointing to something like "balloons/condoms/packaging" containing heroin etc
placed in fuel tanks (I suppose to conceal their transport), busting open and clogging filters.
5. Persons flying plane managing to lose control of a perfectly good aeroplane.

So I guess there is no need to suspect there was a fault with the Rebel. I will fill you in if I hear any more.

Thanks Rick !

Sounds like they were trying to get high the wrong way !!!

It's MUCH better in a Rebel, without the extra "fuel" !!!! ;-)

Rick,

I know you guys are 12 or 13 hours ahead down there, but it's not the first of April yet!!!!!!!!! If not an April fools post, then he must have been one stupid trafficker to but balloons/condoms etc into a tank with 850 rivets shop heads sticking out and a bunch of 20thou aluminum edges to rub on!! I guess he put himself out of his own stupid misery. Just hope the guy he took with him wasn't an innocent bystander! (or did someone he ripped off get even and "dust" his tanks for him??)

Wayne and all:
Some years ago, they caught a guy running Marijuana from British Columbia to California in a large fuel tank, modified "GlassAir". The guys at the "GlassAir" manufacturing facility got wind of it and dubbed the airplane a one-of-a-kind . . . "GrassAir".
