Many,many thanks for your advice,
I would like to explain how I got to where I am at ,I looked at
Alistar's aircraft and thought I would like to get rid of the CABLE
running across the headliner ,spoke to Murphy about this and ended up
ordering split flaps /a with my kit.''' NOW I follow daily all the
input on this website finding it great to keep me going ....read the
comments regarding flaps or flaperons .took your experience and decided
to go back to flaperons, Talked to Alistar and Murphy about slack in
cable between flap handle and flaperons that Alistar pointed out to me
,Grant[MAM]advised to fit the ELITE handle and shorter cable along the
root rib to the mixer .O.K.done that but now I come to fit the
headliner and find I have no room under the headliner for the tube
running from flap handle to root rib I also have the ELITE round
instrument panel and thought this appears to ''close'' up the windscreen
area a bit .SO I THOUGHT when all else seems to fail BOLT IT TO THE
FLOOR
I understand your comments about the cessna handle I have an old model
in my hanger now that I am flying till my REBEL IS finished But I am
trying to keep it a true MURPHY

Oh, WOW !!

You've really been through it ! You're not the only one
who has found the higher instrument panel restrictive !! (I prefer
a REAL horizon to an artificial one !!! ;-) )

You can get rid of most of the slack in the cable by
pre-tensioning the cover - but the rest of it really isn't a
problem. I don't even think about it... You can get full deflection
on the flapperons by loading them on the ground to simulate air
loads (just get a couple of friends to push gently up on them),
then adjust the lever & cable.

Of course, most folks here don't use the factory headliner -
it's a LOT of work to fit. My 4 Rebels have all just had a painted
(flat (no gloss) cream, or white ) roof & inside ribs, although
some have used velcro strips and lightweight automotive cloth
headliners. These are light, easy to remove for cleaning & maintenance,
and inexpensive. (They also adapt easily to hide cables, etc.) ;-)

Oh, my ! That Elite handle is at least 10 lb. heavier
and really too big for the Rebel .... sorry you got such bad
advice ! It has to be that size because the Elite flaps require
MUCH more force to lower than the Rebel's flapperons - I hate to
say it, but my suggestion would be to go back to an "L" shaped
Rebel handle. There's a full size drawing of one on the DCSOL
site .... I guess this leaves the cable outside the headliner,
in plain sight, though.

Sorry - reading this sounds like I'm being negative about
your efforts - I really don't intend to slight you in any way !
I just feel badly that we weren't able to help you avoid all
this extra work, and some unhappiness.

I'm sure that whatever solution you come up with will
be to your liking, and I KNOW you're going to LOVE that Rebel
when you get it flying !! It REALLY <IS> a GREAT airplane !!

Afterthought:
Perhaps you could get the front section of an Elite
headliner - that should cover the tube ....
