You're absolutely right, Rick !
Old Number 001 had the metal strip running along the top and
back forward underneath, ending before the pivot point. While it flies
ok like this, it seems to me that this jus generates a lot of extra
drag from the 'pocket' this creates. My inclination would be to just
cover the top. and end at the trailing edge. This will fill the gap,
without any extra drag. It's not really "pretty", but should be
very effective !
Sounds like you're well on the way - the photo looks great !

Dear Bob :.......some advice , if you would be so kind.
I have read e-mails before when you have said something like " make sure
you "fill the gaps
between the flaperons".....
OK,..... so, looking at them....the covering strip obviously cannot go all
the way around...yes ?
By my way of thinking, the strip would have to stop on the top side just
before the point
where the flaperons would lift / rotate to when using negative positions
...just before the position
of the hanger (pivot mounting point on the rear spar)
BUT...to do the bottom...it looks like the strip would have to be reduced
in width as it comes
up to the "arm" and then go between the two flaperon arms..OR just "end"
somewhere
along the bottom so it doesn't foul the hanger / pivot mount again....yes ?
Can you throw some light on this item for me ?
Anyone out there got any pictures ???
Many Thanks
