1.75 PSI after 16 days!

This e-mail is mainly a test of my new log in id. I thought I would report
that now both my fuel
tanks have sealed and the latest one lasted 16 days without deflating (I
was in New Zealand).
Have those wing tanks done is a big load off my shoulders.

Scott,

Can you tell me your source for the PS 890-A2 and PR-148 Adhesion Promoter
that you used
on your tanks, per your previous postings to this list?

I called PRC DeSoto's Aerospace Support Center in Woodinville, WA today but
they preferred a
$100.00 minimum order, did not have it in stock, and said it would take 4
weeks for them to
ship it.

Thanks for any help.

Roger, that is the very place. They were rude to me and had the exact same
issues. I got
around the 4 week deal by telling them I did not care what grade of PS I
got (there are two). I
spoke with the sales rep and he said that the material is the same, but the
Boeing grade just
becomes the next grade after 2 months. BTW, you are welcome to my PR-148
for free. I have
more than enough for your tanks and still some left over. You can stop by
any time you are in
Portland.

Scott,

I really appreciate your offer! It is very generous and I would like to
take it you up on it. I noticed
you listed a telephone number with your last post. If OK, what would be a
good time to call
you?

Thanks again,

If all else fails, a semkit cartridge (3.5 oz I believe) is a more
expensive and messy way to get the brushable proseal. Leavens aviation
in Toronto happened to have those in stock when I needed it at something
like 28 canadian dollars each. One semkit per tank did all the seams on
one tank for me but I divided the kit in half so I could use the second
half after the top was riveted on. Yeah, I'm a sucker for punishment but
I'm glad I did it. Leavens does have a web site. If you are in the
store, check their clearance bin for time-expired stuff as well, just
remember to mix it well.

Leavens seems to buy proseal by the case (12 cans ?) but only when a
customer orders enough to make it worth while, so their stock is spotty.

My understanding is that the adhesion promoter is not needed for new
tanks that have not had gas in them but that it is very desireable when
repairing a used tank.
